The ERAS+ programme is aimed at helping you prepare for and recover from major surgery as effectively as possible. It can maximise your chances of a speedy recovery, minimising your hospital stay. We believe that your support network (friends, family, partner etc) are central to your recovery.
Over 250,000 patients undergo major surgery annually in England and Wales. These patients are 30% more likely to suffer lung problems. This is associated with short term and long-term morbidity, with increased length of hospital stay(LOST) of up to 8 days and reduced life expectancy for up to 4 years after their surgery. Up until ERAS+ there have been no UK based resources aimed specifically at reducing PPCs for patients undergoing major surgery.
