A healthy diet can improve metabolic imbalances, maintain skeletal muscle mass & physical performance and reduce the risk of reductions or interruptions of scheduled anticancer treatments. All of these factors contribute to improving quality of life.

Prior to your operation, you will be advised to make the following changes to your food intake, which should continue following your operation:

If you are losing weight please contact your ERAS+ team for nutritional support.


After your operation it is important your body has sufficient nutrients to recover and repair. Therefore we recommend you continue eating a healthy balanced diet in the weeks after your operation. If you feel you need further nutritional support during the recovery period please contact your ERAS+ team for further nutritional advice.
